That is a two (2) mill increase over last year’ rate of 10.064. Commissioner Brian Watkins noted that where the jail’s operating expenses are concerned, the commissioners have no control over those expenses.
Because of the proposed increase, the commissioners will have to hold three (3) public meetings. The first two meetings will be held on Wednesday, July 23. One will be held at 11:00 a.m. and the second at 6:00 p.m. on the same day. The third public meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 30 at 6:00 p.m. These meetings will be held at the County Administrative Building.
